Tantauco Park exceeds 5,700 visitors between January and March
Tantauco began 2016 with a good summer season, with a 66% increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period in 2015. Celebrating 10 years since opening its doors to public, Tantauco Park began this 2016 receiving hundreds of visitors who wanted to know the wild side of Chiloé.
Tantauco has become an unforgettable place during the first months of the year, since every year visitors who come and stay to have direct contact with nature and walk the trails of the Park. During these first two months of the year, visitors increased by 66% to 5,724 passengers, which in the same period of the previous year were 3,798.
“We are very happy with the number of visitors this summer, as it shows us that Tantauco has gained an important place as a reference of conservation and great tourist destination for lovers of the outdoors. We expect this increase to continue throughout the year, “says Alan Bannister, Manager of Chiloé Tantauco Park.
10 years of Tantauco
One of the milestones of the summer was the celebration of the first 10 years of the Park, which were held in the last days of January and which counted on the participation of the President of the Future Foundation, Sebastián Piñera E.
There were three days of free entry and guided activities for all ages in the northern part of Lake Chaiguata. More than 400 visitors arrived to spend the day or stay during the weekend to participate in guided activities such as guided kayak workshops on Lake Chaiguata, toured the Sunken Path alongside rangers and children learned in the workshops of Education Environmental.
The President of the Future Foundation, Sebastián Piñera E. participated in the activities on Saturday 23, where he was able to talk too many of the visitors and then say a few words to the audience. “These first 10 years have been a lot of work to make Tantauco the big park that everyone sees today, dedicated to conservation and focusing on sustainable tourism, so that all Chileans can know these wonderful landscapes,” said the president.
Tantauco Park is one of the most important places for trekking in Chile and up to now it has more than 130 km of trails, domes, camping and a Guest House to facilitate the accommodation throughout the year.
For this 2016, more than 6,500 people are expected to visit the park.
