Tantauco Park exceeds 7,900 visitors in 2016
2016 was the year in which Tantauco received more visitors since its creation in 2006, having a visitors increase of 34% compared to the previous year.
The southern side of Chiloé, and especially the Tantauco Park, has become a must see for the thousands of visitors who decide to visit this magical island all year round and enjoy its wild side.
During 2016, Tantauco had a visitor increase of 34% (7,924) compared to the 5,899 that toured the place during 2015. Each year, more tourists decide to visit the Park, whether on day visits or Staying to sleep in the sector of Lake Chaiguata, in the north zone of the Park.
Tantauco Park is one of the most important places for trekking and hiking in Chile. So far trails total more than 130 km, there are routes of low difficulty and high difficulty, depending on the distance, topography and duration of the route.
“We are very happy with the number of visitors of 2016, as it shows us that Tantauco has gained an important place as a reference of conservation and great tourist destination for lovers of the outdoors. We expect this increase to continue during 2017, “says Alan Bannister, Manager Chiloé Parque Tantauco.
Day of the Tantauco Park
As it is tradition, the third Saturday of January, this year on Saturday 21, will celebrate the Day of the Park Tantauco.
On that day we will have special activities, plus free admission for all those who enter on January 21. There will be special buses from Castro at a discounted price (with reservation) on Saturday and Sunday and guided activities in Yaldad and Chaiguata.
